For Immediate Release: Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association Launches the Catskill Film Commission

The Sullivan Catskill Visitors Association (SCVA) is proud to announce the launch of the new Catskills Film Commission. The Commission, formed in partnership with local filmmakers and industry professionals, will assist filmmakers from around the world in bringing their projects to life in the scenic beauty of Sullivan County’s Catskills region.

From classic movies such as “Dirty Dancing” and “The Deer Hunter” to contemporary blockbusters like “Marley & Me” and “What Happens In Vegas,” this part of New York State has proved a popular destination for film production teams over the years due to its beautiful landscapes and diverse culture.

Through this pioneering initiative, SCVA is launching an ambitious drive to attract more filmmakers and projects to the Catskills, while providing a platform for local talent and industry professionals to collaborate. The Commission will offer support in the form of on-site production facilities, location-scouting services, access to local resources, and more.

“We are thrilled to launch this new initiative and are looking forward to seeing our beautiful Sullivan County join other iconic filming locations around the world,” said SCVA President CEO Roberta Byron-Lockwood. “The Catskills have so much potential for film production, from its stunning landscapes to its rich cultural heritage. We invite filmmakers from all over to come to experience what we have to offer!”
